If you are one of the many yogis or yoginis around the world, you’ve probably noticed the benefits of yoga.

If you have been practicing for a while you are most likely sleeping better, feeling more relaxed, or even have had fewer colds.

But what other benefits does Yoga have in our bodies? We set out to make a list of the most important ones and this is what we came up with:

– Yoga improves your fexibility
This might sound obvious but it is actually a very important benefit. You might not be able to notice how much your flexibility improves in your first class, but after a few practices, you will start noticing how your muscles relax. This can help with a number of health issues such as back problems or tight hips.

– Good to Strengthen your Muscles and better your Bone Health
In yoga we use our own bodyweight to do the postures. Any weight-bearing exercises help to strengthen your bones so this helps fight osteoporosis. Having strong muscles help us prevent back pains and other conditions like arthritis.

– Relaxes your System
Yoga is designed to make us be present. Slowing your breath and relaxing to be fully present is one of the most restorative things we can do for our system.

– Improving your Posture
Having a bad posture can cause back, neck, and other muscle and joint problems, it can also lead to states of depression, lowered self-esteem, and decreased energy and vitality.
Yoga integrates many spine lengthening poses which promote good posture and proper alignment of the vertebrae.

These are some of the most important benefits we can think of when it comes to our bodies and to our general wellbeing.
